The ProcessingInstruction object (one of the node types) is an abstract representation in the W3C DOM of an element that contains instructions for an application, but whose content is not treated as part of the document's content tree. Such elements in XML documents are tagged with the format <?ProcessTarget InstructionText?>. In the W3C DOM, the two main components are exposed as the target and data string properties, respectively.
